"Important Information - Grinder Pumps"
As a notice to our new residents and a reminder to those who have been around awhile, when your electric power is OFF to your house, your grinder pump will not operate. You must avoid using water during a power outage as the grinder pump tank will only hold about 45 gallons of wastewater and continued use of water may cause wastewater to back up into the house or flow into the yard through the vent pipe. If the electric power goes out, the City will probably have water, HOWEVER, you must keep water usage to a bare minimum. Also, the maintenance department has advised us that we are experiencing problems with grease build-up in the grinder pumps and sewer lines. The best way to dispose of household grease is to put it out with the garbage rather than pouring it down the drain. This will help to eliminate the grease build-up in the sewer system.

The City of Bloomingdale Public Works Department provides water, sewer and sanitation service to the Citizens of Bloomingdale.
Water & Sewer - The City of Bloomingdale provides water and sewer services to a great majority of its residents and businesses.
Water, sewer and sanitation service can be connected at City Hall Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:15 pm. Once the connection form is completed, your deposit/connection fee has been paid, electricity is on and someone can be at the residence, the City's water department will be able to connect your service.

Meter readings take place on the 15th of each month and the bills are mailed out the last working day of the month. Payment is due on or before the 15th of the billing month, on the 16th a 20% penalty will be applied to the account. Should the account become two(2) months past due, it will be disconnected for non payment on or about the 17th of the month. If service is disconnected, the total amount due plus the reconnection fee of $50.00 MUST BE PAID to have the services reconnected.
NOTICE: FAILURE TO RECEIVE BILL IN MAIL DOES NOT EXCUSE YOUR RESPONSIBILITY FOR TIMELY PAYMENT, DELINQUENT CHARGES OR RECONNECTION FEES
Sanitation -- The City of Bloomingdale provides sanitation services to all its residents and businesses. Each service consist of one household trash receptacle (brown) and one recycling receptacle (blue) Household garbage should be placed in the roll-out carts provided by the City. Household garbage is picked up once a week. Your pick-up day is determined by where you live in the City. Recycling pick up is every other Wednesday and will only be picked up in the blue recycling cart provided.
